Construction Accounting Specialist

Location: Santa Ana, CA
Pay Range: $29-$31 per hour

Our construction client is seeking a Construction Accounting Specialist to join their team in Santa Ana. This role is essential for managing full-cycle job cost and contract accounting for construction and development projects. You'll handle everything from processing invoices to maintaining accurate project records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively with vendors, customers, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and code accounts payable invoices accurately.
  • Maintain detailed project records, including contracts and change orders.
  • Manage expense transfers between project accounts.
  • Track lien releases for assigned projects.
  • Prepare and submit AIA billings to subcontractors.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Engineers on budgets and financial performance.
  • Investigate and reconcile project costs.
  • Verify accuracy of invoices and accounting documents.
  • Prepare reports and assist with special projects as needed.
  • Support daily accounting operations and maintain vendor/customer databases in Sage & Procore.
  • Utilize tools such as QuickBooks, Excel, Word, Adobe, Outlook, and Procore.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction.
  • Hands-on experience with construction billing.
  • Proficiency in Sage, Procore, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
